Gigasampler does not yet support 24 bit audio formats.

Hi Murray,

I guess that you are referring to the older Gigasampler which is no longer 'in
production'.

Gigastudio, which has been shipping for a couple of years, supports 24 bit
audio...

Open mouth and insert foot...

I was originally referring to Murray's original 'broad' statement. It will read
in 24 bit waves...

Well I guess this is correct in one sense -- GigaStudio will send 24 bit audio
streams from its internal mixer to the outputs or bounce them to disk.

However, the audio files of which gig files are comprised are 16 bit and the
audio engine only handles sixteen bit inputs -- Garth is of course better
acquainted with the finer points than the rest of us -- I didn't know it could
dither 24 bit files down to 16 bit and then store those cut down samples in a
gig file.

Nevertheless, my original point -- that GigaSampler/GigaStudio does not have 24
bit libraries -- is not a controversial one. If you read the relevant forums
(eg Northern Sounds, Kontakt users forum at NI) you will find mention that this
feature is promised for Version 3.0 which is due later this year sometime ....
or sometime before hell freezes over anyway.

Regards,
Murray
