Given the number of questions I have received about the OSX version
I think it is worth answering the most common ones here:

- The OSX version does not require Classic at all. It is a pure OSX
  software (also called Mach-O)

- The OSX version has no limitation, all versions of CDXtract have
the same features and all new formats are released on all platform
  at the same time.

- All versions of CDXtract use less than 20 meg of ram which leaves
you plenty of space to run other softwares at the same time.

- CDXtract can read Mixed mode Akai/Audio discs on OSX.

- So far I have not been able to read from an Akai formatted hard
drive under OSX but I keep searching...

- A new update 4.1.1 will be released in a couple of days, it will
include some bug fixing and the full implementation of the Kurzweil
format. Other formats are in development and will be released
shortly (import VSampler, export Mach5 are almost finished,
export NN-XT is on its way... just to name a few)

If you have any other question please feel free to mail me privately.

Thank you Jeremy for organizing this GroupBuy :-)

Kurzweil, you say? Count me in the group buy! I'm ready to make the
commitment.

Hi Bernard,

I have signed up for the EXS-users group buy.
I had a couple of question regarding GIGA>EXS conversion.

I own the Garritan Orchestral Strings Library and have so far used the
built-in EXS24 GIGA conversion with some success.

Does CDXtract convert the EXP (expression patches) which uses the Modulation
wheel to crossfade between different dynamic (velocity) layers?

Same question for VIB instruments which use modulation to crossfade between
sustain vibrato and sustain non-vibrato samples of different velocity
layers. E.g. 4 samples per key:
1. Vibrato sus with velocity range 1-63
2. Vibrato sus with velocity range 64-127
3. Non-Vibrato sus with velocity range 1-63
4. Non-Vibrato sus with velocity range 64-127

Perhaps I should ask what elements of Gigasampler libraries won't be
translated? I've read that it supports release triggers.

Thanks,

Matt Jones

[EXS] Re: CDXtract Group Buy, final reminder

2003-04-03 by Colin Shapiro

Let me add a word here:

I've had and used CDXtract for quite a while now, and I couldn't work
without it.
There are even "hidden" extras that may not be apparent. For example,
2 days ago, I had to get an old job set up in my studio to do an
update. Unfortunately, I hadn't made a note of which Zip disk I had
used for my S760 and I was ready to start loading them all, one by
one, to find the programs I needed.

Then I remembered CDXtract had a disk manager Search function. I had
catalogued my zip disks before, so I just did a search for one of the
program names I needed, and located the disk in 2 seconds!

Now if only CDxtract would make coffee......

Regards - Colin

Especially since Garth is a regular and very helpful contributor
here, I think it's only fair to give its competitor, Chicken Systems
Translator Pro, a big plug as well!
