Key Mapping

2003-06-24 by gedgrimes

Hi all
Hmm.. trying to find the best solution to the following; I have one
instance of ESX with drum sounds mapped over the keyboard. I have a
second instance of ESX with cymbal sounds. I want to combine these to
make a complete drum kit. So I cut the cymbals zones and groups and
paste them into the drum kit. The problem now is that some of the
zones overlap due to duplicate key mappings. I need a quick way of
picking up all the zones of the cymbal samples and remapping them
further up the keyboard.
I wish there was a way of selecting them with the mouse and moving
them, much as I would do with notes in the Matrix editor but it seems
like I need to re map each cymbal sound from within its individual
zone using numerical input..dark ages or what..?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If the samples you wish to mover are assigned to a group they can be selected
all together with a keycommand and then using the shift zones keycommands you
can move them up or down the keyboard.

To assign a large number of samples that you have already imported to a new
group -- select them all and hold down the Contol (PC) Option (Mac) key and
choose the group you want in one of the selected zones.

Before merging the drum & cymbal programs, first assign all zones in
each program to a group. Then in the cymbals: select all, copy,
switch to drums, paste. Now select the cymbals group and pick the
command "select all zones pointed to by selected group" (or something
like that -- it's in the editor's menu's somewhere). Next use the
keycommand "move all zones including rootnote" (or something similar
--- keycommand only!) to move all zones up/down in one go, moving the
rootnote along with them.
