There is nothing in the new manual about the "purchased" emagic
plugins. It only contains information about the plugins that come
native to Logic without requiring a key.

So nope, I guess it's just whatever they say on the website about the
EXSmkII.

If you dig around on the website there *is* a MkII manual around (either full
or addendum). It should be somewhere under the Support section IIRC.

The manual for the EXS is a PDF that's on the install disk for Logic 6.0.
As for the Logic 6 manual, there was recently a rather heated discussion
about it's absence on the Logic forum. No definitive conclsion, and no new
manual.

Uhhhhm...actually, I have a copy of the new manual in my hands. It's
792 pages long, a thick bound paperback and I had to order it
specially from my Emagic supplier. The discussion was more about the
fact that it should have been included in the v6 purchase price.

And it's quality... (It's not ring bound, but phonebook style apparently.)

I got it as well. Looks good. Bad news is: the index is
abominable. Just 7 pages, as opposed to 24 (in smaller type) for
the old manual. You'll have to do some digging to find what
you're looking for. Hard to figure why they'd make the index
smaller as the program gets deeper. !??

As much as I wanted to I'm glad I didn't chuck the "big black
binder" when the new one arrived.

Agreed. The index is a joke, but not really funny at all! I have to
search for stuff in the contents all the time.
As an old Logic user, I have a good idea where to find things
(environment section, audio, etc etc), but for a beginner, this book
will be a nightmare!

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
