I actually figured it out with a friend's help. I didn't realize you could do 
this, BUT....   you just create an OUTPUT 1-2 track, then solo the EXS 
instrument you want to record, then hit the BOUNCE button (in the mixer window) on 
the Output 1-2 track.   When the dialog comes up, click BOUNCE & ADD -- thiss 
creates an instant audio track of the EXS instrument in your AUDIO window, and 
you just drag it to the track you want it in.   Voila!!

Yeah. That's exactly what Logic support people told me to do. Cool.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
