Pots do get dirty, but not enough to completely block out the signal in
any position- that would be more than dirt. those pots can rub a gap
between the wiper and the seat causing noise and signal loss, but a
dirty pot is a bit different.. And, any half way decent tech could
replace them for pretty cheap.

As far as no "sound" on the outputs-

That is strange. the 2101 doesn't have a power section like a regular
amplifier does. After signal goes through the tube(s) it goes right into
digital processing and signal mixing. it's all line out voltage . That
is why you need a powe4r amp or powered PA to plug it into and get sound.

So there are only a few possibilities if everything is hooked up
correctly. in almost all cases, if there were something physically wrong
with the unit then you would get an error on the display screen. bad
tubes wont necessarily generate an error nor will pots or jacks.

#1 Do you have the foot controller? the expression pedal could be set as
a volume control or the previous owner could have had it set to work
with another expression pedal. Mine is set this way, where I have a cry
baby pedal, then use my foot control pedal for volume. Try resetting the
unit to factory settings.

#2 one or both tubes are shot.

Have you checked the tubes? You should pull them and put them on a tube
tester or replace them- they are only $12.00 a piece at thetubestore.com.

#3 bad jacks or cables

This is the number one time consumer for troubleshooting. Again a new
cable or a half way decent tech can resolve this.

#4 one or more of the DSP effects are bad.

Its going to cost a lot. more than the unit is worth. It would be better
to buy another one or buy a similar and newer type unit. In looking at
the schematics, the signal enters through an op-amp controlled channel
switching circuit, then to the compressor/limiter circuitry and then to
the tubes. Once a signal comes out of the tubes it is all digital
effects from there on out. the signal loss could be happening ANYWHERE
from the input jack on. it could take as much as 3 or 3 hours to test
just to know what exactly is wrong, and then however much time to fix it
plus the parts.

really there is nothing more to it than that. There are settings in the
limiter and the distortion settings that could make it go quiet, but not
100% loss of signal.

I think, one thing you could do is to put a voltage meter to each of the
output jacks. Just get a guitar cable and cut it in half. plug it in and
hook the mutimeter leads to the cable and try to get a reading. at least
then you would know if there is signal.
