upgrade it.. just do it, you'll be happier with it.. make sure that you reseat your tubes, replace the coin battery with a new one (i think that this is your main problem), and write the date of change on a piece of tape and tape that inside the top lid.. these batteries only last about 3 years.. some can last up to 5 years, but 3 is the average.. you can see of there is any DIP creep, this is where the Dual Inline Package chips creep out of their sockets, gently but firmly press them down into the sockets.. they work their way out due to heat.. go to Dieter's site and do the clock speed upgrade also.. he is a very valuable resource to the 2101 community..
