Yeah right - you must have a magical 2101 then
because mine went crazy when the battery died and was totally unusable. It
worked fine after the battery was changed although the user settings where
gone.

The battery doesn't have anything to do with the system clock. All the
battery does is retain the user settings when the unit is powered off. In
fact, you can remove the battery completely and the gsp will still work
just fine. The cpu clock is run from the power supply.
