Internal Continuous Controller CC Calibration

Internal Continuous Controller CC Calibration

2007-08-14 by john_lampson

I have a pretty bizarre problem with my CC pedal on my 2101 FC. I've
had this for several years (ever since I bought the unit used).

I have to set it up so that the 0 value is at the toe and the heel and
the value of 127 is in the middle. To demonstrate, a patch that would
gradually increase in distortion has max distortion in the middle of
the travel and no distortion at either end of pedal's physical extremes.

No matter how I try to calibrate it, this seems to be the only way it
works. Is this something I need to clean inside the unit?

Hey John,

This is not a bizarre problem. This is by design. Your using one range in midi 0 to 127. What you are asking for sounds like two ranges,
0 to 127 to 0 with 127 as the center point. Even if you calibrated half way the end would still be 127. I have no idea's at this time to remedy this. You could try a J-12 controller with two pedals and reverse program them????

Also let us know in detail what you did on the FC2101 to fix it.

I would love to get a J-12. Two pedals would solve a lot of problems.

But the problem is not with me understanding the change in values
corresponding to the travel of the pedal. I would rather have 0 at
the bottom and 127 at the top, but my pedal won't calibrate that
way. It could be the processor, it could be the pedal, but I'm
assuming it's the pedal and so I'd like to know if there's anything I
can look at in terms of cleaning or self-maintenance to troubleshoot.

Hey John,
Did I get you right? The pedal won't calibrate or won't calibrate from 127 to 0? Mechanically the pedal is a LED with a moving blocker that increases the blockage causing more or less value. If you not getting changes I would check the LED. If this is not what the problem is please ignor. :-) I will have to try to calibrate from 127 to 0 myself.......

For the tube junkies about RFT's my personal fav.
ECC83/R.F.T
German valve that I have seen also branded Brimar, Siemens & Telefunken. This tube was also used for a
long period by Marshall. The valve has a rich bass response with great drive. Very low in microphonics due
to thick glass envelope. The valve also distorts earlier than the U.S.A types. The valve does show less treble
response than the U.S.A types which lends the valve to be used in a more rock style set up. The rich
harmonic distortion make this a great valve in Marshall. Boogie and Vox amps. It showed rich sustain with
plenty of bass crunch. Mid range was clear and detailed. Defiantly for the rockers and blues players.

Re: Internal Continuous Controller CC Calibration

2007-08-16 by john_lampson

It won't calibrate from 0 to 127. I can either have it be 0 until
about halfway through the travel and then it becomes 127 or I can
have it be 0 to 127 to 0, with 127 at the middle of travel.

I'll have to open this sucker up and see if that LED is obstructed or
misaligned.
