K5synth

Hi,

I don't post too often, although I have been a member for years and a K5 user since it's initial production. The reason is I just replaced the displays in my K5m and K5 with one from lightsforsynths. It truly was an easy installation compared to the older method of soldering wires. It is a bright display. Thanks to Mo Morgan for telling me about them. I do not work for this company, just thought I would tell the group about a truly excellent product for these old synths. I am thrilled about the "new" old K5 and K5m. Check it out if you need to update your display.

Thanks for the tip! Any particular steps to follow or omit?

    I can confirm Mo and lightsforsynths's K5 display works great as a drop in replacement.  All you have to do is unplug/unscrew the original screen and inverter cables (one ribbon and a two wire inverter cable attached to display that you will probably cut) and plug this one in and you are back to being able to see the K5's screen in all of its backlit glory!  Looks good and is highly visible for all of the editing.  Best part is that it taps the board voltage so no more inverter needed (that is used for old EL display).  I ended up de-soldering the noisy inverter completely and now have a K5 that looks and sounds great :D   Thanks, Mo!If anyone has any questions about installation, I can answer :)  #yiv3235874462
