My question is: How were you able to access the battery when the PCB/motherboard is covered by an impenetrable copper shield? As for the MIDI situation, you can get a cheap MIDI to USB interface for $5 on amazon or you can go old school and get a disk drive with a MIDI interface to load your patches. I've got the original OC-8 RAM card, thinking this would provide a back-up for the K1m, but as it turns out, it only saves edited patches, not the whole set!
