... Yeah and we can get more powerful software synths than the Hawk, too, but people still buy it don t they... ... Then why are there always scads of bids on

Don t get me wrong, I am quite interested in bringing out Arpeggiator. I just think we need to be realistic when talking about the market. I intend to start

i agree..better to devise some software for an arduino MIDI self build thing. the akai arp IS not the ultimate arp, and yes, the oberheim thing crashed, which

I have a customer that needs help to build and install their HAWK kits into his EX-800. Do any of you have a good contact for an electronics technician in

How about I just design/build/manufacture a new 1RU arpeggiator? Oh hang on, I can do a gazillion things arp-wise on a PC with any number of different

I m not sure what you mean by pin 6 . 3.7V across Q1 emitter/collector On CN6A, isn t pin 6 supposed to be measured to have V 5V? I thought that was the

... That should *not* overheat when driving the Poly 800, unless there s some horrible fault. ... 9*sqrt(2) = 12.7V - you re reading peak not RMS voltage ;-)
2010-12-28 by n8
Hi Don! I am gonna swap out Q1 and will remeasure everything to see what is happening... You mentioned pulling stuff and swapping for a 7805?! How is that
2010-12-28 by n8
That is correct. 13V even when plugged into the keyboard and switched on... It does seem to drop to 9V even when everything is connected like in normal
2010-12-28 by n8
I agree Don. The power supply should be fine...thoguh something was up with the other adapter I used (one of those 7, 9 ,12 volt swtichable) with he polarity
2010-12-28 by n8
Hi Mike, Even the Korg Poly 800 OEM adapter gives out 12 volts... Looking at the adapter, its shows it as 9V neg center 700mA 15W @ input. But when I measure

Okay, time to dive into this overly-complicated 5V regulator circuit. Yes, it s a very good candidate for just unsoldering most of it and replacing it with a

Hi Michael, I have an EX800 synth, a couple of years ago I bought the HAWK-800EX kit (on your site) but I never found the time to mount the kit, and I m afraid
2010-12-27 by backshall1 (dsl)
Yes, it should be lower than that if the 5V regulator section was working, so that s a pretty good indication that no power is getting through at least one of
2010-12-27 by backshall1 (dsl)
I think what Mike means here is that if you had batteries installed, and wired the A/C adapter directly to the same circuit, the higher voltage would feed back
2010-12-27 by Michael Hawkins
the original email said that the voltage was still 13 volts while plugged in to the Poly. ________________________________ From: backshall1 (dsl)

... Well I know a lot of people have checked the service manual for an easy hack, and there isn t any. It would have to be a major firmware rewrite project
2010-12-27 by zoinky420
... And what do you mean by endorse ? It wasn t a Hawk question, so perhaps a better word to use would have been recommend .
2010-12-27 by zoinky420
... Well a wall-wart is a more stable power source than batteries. What do you mean by incorrectly ?
2010-12-27 by backshall1 (dsl)
A newer switching supply wall wart will give you a consistent 9vdc regardless of current flow, but an older one with a big transformer will be 12-13 volts when
2010-12-27 by korgpolyex800
The wall wart should be providing a consistent 9V DC output. If you re seeing 13 volts at the input of the Poly 800 then you need to get a 9V DC wall wart. 13
2010-12-27 by Michael Hawkins
To be frank, wiring a jack to the battery terminals if done incorrectly could cause a battery explosion or fire. So I cannot endorse that method of repair.
2010-12-27 by zoinky420
You know you could just wire the jack, or a new jack to the battery terminals.

What voltage does your power supply deliver? Could it be like with 7805 regulators, when the bigger the difference between input voltage and output voltage,

What about something from radio shack? Like the 7805? Sorry if this is a silly question...just curious. I cant get +5V on ping 6 like i need. seems like my
2010-12-25 by n8
I would say not... Even the voltage regulator transistor Q1 doesn t have a heat sink on it, and it looks like its collector is tied directly to the NEG rail on

According to MIDI implementation, seems like it is possible to change one parameter at a time using CC84 and CC85. So I dug out my old proto board with Atmel

Mike, Yes please, I d love to take a look at JSynthLib. The last one I have checked in the Files section of the group missed actual parameter editing stuff.
