I was looking into getting an ART Pro Channel (mmm... variable mu
compression <slobber>) but that is way too expensive right now : (

yep, I was very interested in that too, but I do want something with
character - the Behringer is pretty dull but its grand as a light duty
compressor and peak limiter. I'll get the RNC at a later stage! maybe two!
