RE: [L-OT] Re: OT What kind of people throw away their Logic CD?

Hi there,

If you will properly read my post it refers exclusively to the PC, not
the Mac.
I am actually a Mac user and I do know how it works. Thanks.
Personally I use retrospect images on a file server and never need to
reinstall software either. One of the reasons I went to Mac in the first
place.

I dont know if you are the original poster or not, but didnt it EVER
occur to you that you might need the CD?
What if... i dont know... your images became corrupt... yes every one of
them...?
What are you going to do then?

Throwing away original CD's is unwise, IMO. And now you know why.

James

I updated my MacOs (better: I freshly installed) several times from 8.0
to
now 9.2.2.
I never needed to reinstall Logic (or ProTools or whatever). I have
copies
of the files that I know are important (items installed in the system
folder
by an application, but that´s mainly my DAE folder with ProTools´
plug-ins
and FX settings, NOTHING regarding Logic itself) and simply drag and
drop
them after the new system install.
I even have at least the last 5 Logic versions completely on my harddisk
(what you would call "installed"), so I definitely don´t have to go back
to
the installation CD. And I have backup CDs of my working partitions (I
do
that maybe once a month, and I throw them away after about 6 months).

Don´t call that (or me) stupid!

If you´re on Windows I know it´s different. But I´m not.

Peter
