Are you sure about this? Does your PC's hard drive get wiped everytime you switch it off? Sure, it makes sense to backup the iPods contents just as you would any other device. That said - how do you get audio onto the iPod in the first place? By synching it with your PC in most cases - so most users may well already have their "backup".
