For the record, "Stan"

isn't up to that standard.

I must agree with you. I heard this song and wished I would've(cause I
think I can, :-) written something like this.
What I still don't understand is that it seems as though 'art' should
be something beautiful. Well guess what: it isn't. Good thing it isn't
too.
And who says that the songs describe what the artist himself feels,
senses, thinks, etc. Can't it be a character? You wouldn't think of
Anthony Hopkins of being Hanibal Lecter.
What annoys people I think the most is that Eminem is such a well
developed product for white middle-class America, aimed at a teenager
audience, and it's being a success. Middle-class America still lives
in this "we should protect our kids for evil" state of mind. Pretty
hypocritical I must say. Reminds me of when they used to call black
music satanic music, or music from the devil. Now Eminem uses
something from the hiphop culture, originally from black kids, to sell
a product to white middle-class America. And it's a threat.
Reminds me of a "Public Enimy" song, "Fear of a black planet".
Education is better than protection, IMHO. Expose the kids to all good
and evil and explain to them the difference instead of hiding it for
them. If a Eminem CD is to graphic, explain to the kid that it's to
graphic, that there are some things he can't understand yet. Not edit
a CD so the rest of the kids can listen to the 'beeped' version. Such
a waste of time too; explaning a kid would have taken less time.
