the Apple Store...

2002-05-03 by Martin, Jeremy

... doesn't seem to have 500 mhz PowerBooks listed anymore. Does anyone know
if Apple no longer sells these, or if maybe they are just a little more
burried on their website? I just wanted to compare the price of the
500/667/800mhz TiBooks.....

Thanks,
Jeremy

apple have a rather unnerving habit of "disappearing" the older
models as soon as the new ones are announced. even the
dealers seem to only have a small handful of older models left,
which go in a matter of weeks due to discounting. finding a new
ti book 500 would be near impossible i'd think.

Oh well.. By the time I buy the other stuff I need first and save up
the $$ the 800 mhz TiBooks will probably be on the verge of being
discontinued anyway. :-) I'll just wait for the next round to jump in
I guess..

Thanks for the info!

By many accounts, and to some degree my own experience, the audio
performance of the the RevB (500, 667) TiBooks is relatively poor
when compared to the RevA Tibooks, so if your main intended use is
audio you may be better off doing what you suggest above, or even
trying to find a revA TiBook which should be fairly cheap these days.
