[LAW] [GEN] Midi Mix Automation?

[LAW] [GEN] Midi Mix Automation?

2002-06-29 by tommylander

I'm trying to write automation with a midi mixer. I've tried all
modes of automation (write, touch, etc..)and cannot get any fader
movement recorded when I use my midi mixer (VM3100-Pro), however,
when I move them with my mouse I can get it to work. How do I record
the fader movements with a midi mixer?

Recording of fader movements should _always_ take place, regardles of
the settings of your audio obejcts. I mean, it's just incoming midi
data, and thus recordable. If it's meaningful or not is a different
matter :-).

In order to automate things with your midi mixer, you should switch
the audio objects to 'MIDI' and record/treat the automation as you
would in v4 -- i.e using CC's 64 and up for plugins, using Channel
Splitters (A-Playback, etc) to route the automation data, etc.

After you're done recording, you can either leave the audio objects
set to MIDI or convert the MIDI automation to Fader events (some
options in the Automation submenu of the Options menu).

I don't quite see why you post this to the OT list btw. Seems very
on-topic to me...
