Newbie needs help on LPC2106

Newbie needs help on LPC2106

2004-02-17 by nmitech

Hi all,

I have a LPC2106 protoype board talking to Hyperterminal, as each
time I entered "?" it echoed back "synchronize". So far so Good but
for some reasons, it did not recoginze (can not communicate) using
the Flash ISP Utility program. Does this ring a bell to anyone?
I already checked the following configurations:
- crystal frequency
- Comport
- Baud 9600 default
- BDGSEL signal pull low
- P0.14 jumpers low ( I also tried with P0.14 pull high )
Am I missing anything else?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you mean pin 14 (p0.1)? I'm pretty sure that's the pin (as well as
DBGSEL) that need to be pulled low. I don't think P0.14 pin 44 - is
used for flash programming. Assuming that's correct, I can't imagine
why you can't connect with the flash isp - if you can connect with
hyperterminal using the same cable. It should work.

We had trouble early on, but it was because our part was responding
with '?Synchronize' - the extra '?' was causing trouble. (I think we
were using a very old part and it was a 2105).

Good luck,
b

...also as someone on this newsgroup suggested to me sometime ago,
realterm is a nice tool to have in your tool chest.

User manual states:
"A LOW level after reset at the P0.14 pin is considered as the external
hardware request to
start the ISP command handler."

I hope nmitech has released the port by disconnecting hyperterminal.
About terminal emulators in general, hyperterminal is a very basic
terminal and you don't want to be caught using it, somebody might think
that you are a newbie ;).

As a suggestion, try using teraterm, it's free, and it works very well.

B. Clapper,

P0.1 is the primary serial input, i don't think it should pull low. I
am open for other suggestions. Thanks!

Peter,

yes, the Hyperterm program is closed, and Flash ISP utility is the
only program was running at the time.

Also you mentioned about the TERATERM, what is this program, and
where can i get it?

Try this link for TeraTerm:

I expect you have already done this but just to make sure. You did reset
the micro before attempting to download? (IE you didn't just communicate
with the terminal, and then try a download w/o a reset in between).
