I have built the vcom example on the Keil tools and burned it to a IAR
board, and it works (as well as the windows driver) as described, after
adding the proper pinsel configuration for the 'connect' line on the iar
board.  This builds fine with Keil's free crippleware tools, but I'm a GCC
fan in any case, hence my goal of a fully GCC build.  However, I can say
unequivocably that the windows end appears to work fine as sent, although
I've only sent text through it (not tried to run at high speed for data
xfer).
