CodeWarrior license issue

CodeWarrior license issue

2006-04-27 by dicianni3

Has anyone had a problem where a message appears
"Unable to use plugin MetroWerks C/C++". I orginally
thought I had a license problem, but a valid license is
found when I start-up, I just can't compile and this all was
previously working. I'm using CodeWarrior for Coldfire
special edition. I would appreciate any suggestions freescale
support seems non-existent.

I think you meant to post this to a Freescale or Motorola micro
group.

Having said that though, I've had MANY unwanted messages from Code-
terrorist in the short time I have been forced to use it at
my day job... I will be SO happy when I'm able to completely
remove metrworks code-terrorist from my laptop. Also, I notice
that it leaves LOTS of things in the registry after it is un-installed
so I run a registry cleaner afterwords.

I really wish my day job would let me use the LPC series for these
projects. I ~almost~ had them convinced on the LPC2103. Real close.

I hear you. The CodeWarrior License message should read:

"You will be unable to use MetroWerks C/C++ because of all
    the compiler bugs"

I think Motorola/Freescale jumped the shark when they bought
Metrowerks. There were so many good little C vendors for their
chips and they killed most of them with that deal.

We stopped using their parts once the DSP56800 compiler was
so full of bugs that it could not be used. I used their parts
for almost 20 years starting with HC11, then HC16, then HC12.

Thank goodness there's ARM parts!

Ditto....also couldn't get it to compile either. Tech support never
responded to my questions. This was after I bought two eval boards.
Message should have stated

"This is not working because it was designed to tick you off."

Decided to look at the LPC instead.
