The new version 1.6 of CrossWorks for ARM is available on the Rowley
web site. It now supports newer devices like the LPC2103 and LPC2148.

Hi Leon,

Were you given official permission to announce Crossworks 1.6
or did you just see it on the website?

The link seems to be dead right now (0900 GMT Thursday 1 June).
>Not Found
>The requested URL /arm/arm_crossworks_1_6_win.zip
>was not found on this server.

I don't know if this is
(a) a bug that some of those at the bleeding edge have discovered
(b) to prevent them from exceeding bandwidth allowances
(c) to allow their license-issuing department to keep up
(d) incompetence - the file is sitting there but not where
the link is pointing
(e) just a preview to those who are selected beta testers
(f) something else more innocent

Do you think we should wait for an "official" announcement?

I found it on the web site. Paul Curtis mentioned that it would be out this
week on the comp.arch.embedded NG.

It's actually been announced on the Rowley web site, which is how I found
out that it was available. I just checked and didn't have any trouble
starting the download from:

I am asking this here because I think most users will need to hear
this. How do you get the licence for the new 1.6?

1. I went to "help -> about" as usual to request a licence and nothing
was there.
2. The release notes said there is a new licencing scheme but doesn't
say how
3. When trying to compile you get a red line saying a licence is
required but it doesn't direct the user to what to do.
4. I searched the manual for the word "licence" and I found
information on how to do it the old way but not for 1.6.

1.5 is still working fine

Hi Gus,

Try

"Tools | Licence Manager"

It is different, but I found it OK. Click on Tools > License Manager. From
then on it's similar to the old version - input your product key and email
it.

Another difference is that you now have to download packages (via Tools) for
CPU and board support. I think this makes it easier for Rowley to support
new devices and boards when they become available.

Explained here: http://www.rowley.co.uk/crossworks/Evaluating.htm

Nope. Tools > License Manager.

Install a license...

It will. V1.6 now centralises all licenses for all CrossWorks products.
