A quick google on Gnu AS documentation leads to this http://www.gnu.org/software/binutils/manual/gas-2.9.1/as.html The ARM Architecture Reference Manual is a good overview of the instruction set. Note that the core version and the chip numbering scheme are not related which is a source of confusion. ARM probably should have used numbers for one and letters for the other, live and learn.
