I'm designing a LPC2138 board without an external RTC xtal circuit. Any ideas how to handle the RTCX1 & RTCX2 real time clock oscillator pins when not used? The manual doesn't seem to have a recommendation for this. Bill T. http://www.kupercontrols.com

Hi Bill,
LPC2138 RTC pins may be kept unwired (do not connect any thing) and let the registers in default state while you are not using. There is no special consideration for this and thus trivial to mention in datasheet. The RTC register definition is sufficient.

I was told by someone at Philips that RTXC1 (input pin) should be tied to ground, and RTXC2 (output pin should be left unconnected). This makes sense to me. Leaving an input pin floating does not sound like a good idea, even if the function of that pin is disabled. Philips Apps: How about spec'ing this in the next Data Sheet and User Manual release. --- In lpc2000@yahoogroups.com, sudip nag <sudipnag1@y...> wrote: > Hi Bill, > LPC2138 RTC pins may be kept unwired (do not connect any thing) and let the registers in default state while you are not using.
