OCDRemote problem

OCDRemote problem

2005-07-15 by nuncio_bitis

I've recently started having problems with OCD Remote

I can start it up with the command :
ocdremote.exe -cARM7TDMI-S -p8888 -dWIGGLER -a1 -s6
(note - no other speed besides 6 works)

I then start up arm-elf-insight.exe (part of GNUARM)

I can connect to target, and download to RAM (which is super slow -
takes a few minutes to download 1500 bytes), but when I try to start
running, OCDremote shuts down with error:
Shut down sockets.

I've tried going back to the Macgraigor web site
(http://www.macraigor.com/full_gnu.htm) to download v2.13 (I have
v2.12), but the download always stops at 96% (I've been seeing this
problem for weeks)

Any suggestions?

It would be more informative to see the error generated by OCDRemote.
That usually has more details as to the cause of the failure.

"Shut down sockets." *is* the error message returned from OCDRemote. It
seems to just shut down when Insight successfully connects (yes, I get a
"connected successfully" window pop up). I've also noticed that the process
goes away (using Windows task manager)

I'm suspecting this is the pins 8-15 short problem with the Wiggler (well,
not a problem with the Wiggler, but with the tools), although I don't see
why this would start happening now after using the tools for a while, unless
the tools have a time limit. I'm using OCDRemote v2.12a, and I suspect I
didn't have this problem with v2.12, since that's the version I started
using, and Insight was working back then.

I've got a bunch of things to try out this weekend now: clock speed (I hear
"-s 8" works best), OCDRemote v2.13, OCDRemote v2.12, connect pins 8 and 15
on the Wiggler.

I looked into the Rowley Crossworks toolkit, but it's very expensive
(probably around $700US)
I'm writing to Keil to get quotes on their tools. I'm going to try the
evaluation of their tools though.
A 16K limit on code size doesn't make me too happy, although I have yet to
come close to that with my code.

Thanks

I'm been pretty happy using the gnu toolchain w/ the USBDemon (fast).
