Yes, I thought it was too good to be true too. But, from the things I am seeing on the surplus market, it looks like Bourns may be dumping some NOS on the market through surplus dealers because they are not popular sellers. For example, last month I scored 51 series, PCB mount 50Kohm conductive plastic from All Electronics for $1 each. They are very nice but, the shaft is shorter than normal. It is still plenty long for the knobs we are using, but probably was not a big seller. The accountants can show you how it is cheaper to throw away stuff that does not sell than to keep it around for years in inventory. We have all seen evidence of that in our own workplaces. I expect Bourns is doing some house cleaning. The date codes on my 300Ks are 1997 and 1991 on my 50Ks. I do appreciate your tip John. So, I pulled out some of the ones I bought and checked them. Typically 2 or 3 ohms at each end leftover at full rotation. Not exactly zero, but darn close on a 300K pot. They will be fine for my planned application.
