This is what I have done inside my D-50's aftertouch sensor, its a simple 0-5V CV that can be patched straight into the modular. No need to go to the MIDI middle man. Et viola no quantised stepping. But, all of which could have avoided if Roland and others had adopted the full 16-bits allocated for aftertouch in the first place.
