MOTM chicken beak knobs

2002-03-05 by J. Larry Hendry

Who on the list got these last time? Or, who knows where to get them?
Seems like we had to get 100 to get the decent price? Anyhow, I am ready to
order more. If someone else wants to do it, that is fine. If not, I will.
Anyone interested in getting some, e-mail me privately and tell me how many.
I'm personally only 2 short, but surely I will need more later. :)

Electronic Goldmine may have what you want, #G9463.

Or Jameco, #102787

Or Mouser #45KN012 or #5164-2300

Trig/Gate delay anyone? Plus, a room full of mousetraps...

2002-03-06 by Les Mizzell

I could REALLY use a gate/trigger delay module.

Better yet, MULTIPLE gate/trigger delay outputs - with the times
controllable by CV.

And a really wild crazy idea....

Anybody seen "Mouse Hunt"? Remember the scene with all the mousetraps in one
room? (Hang with me, I'm getting there...) The first mousetrap is triggered,
and that triggers two or three others, and those....and you get this whole
"scatter" effect of mousetraps going off on an random exponential curve
until they're all done.

I want a module that will do THAT with trig/gate signals - or even audio
signals. One trigger input, and then a "roomful of mousetraps" effect until
a definable number of output events is spent. Better yet, would work both
forwards or in reverse.

Make any sense? Seems a little like a modification of granular synthesis for
CV signals, but not quite.

Any guesses as to the function of the "Envelope Nest" 500 module?

I'd rather have a Tactex type pad like on the Moog Voyager, or something
like a Korg Kaoss pad that would output control voltages and/or allow mixing
of control or audio signals.

Actually, Grant Richter over at Wiard has already figured how to mod a Kaoss
pad for CV. There's an article somewhere....

Correct.

Hmmm...Envelope Nest is *like* this in a way.

While not very efficient, if you really NEED a gate delay in a pinch, you
can use a pedal interface with a 820 Lag or 800 EG. And, you can exercise
voltage control over the delay.

Here is the patch using the 800 and 850.

Gate to EG in
EQ + out to pedal interface pedal in connection.
Pedal Gate out = your delayed gate.
CV control for gate delay to pedal interface MIX in.

On the EG use your A and R to set your gate
ON delay and gate OFF delay (D set to min, S to max)

On the pedal interface, use the GATE control to set the voltage point (and
delayed range) you want your new gate to trigger at (somewhere near the top
end will give you the best CV control).

On the pedal interface, use the MIX input for your gate delay CV. The MIX
control will set the CV amount. The more positive CV, the less delay as the
incoming voltage from the EG will reach the gate threshold sooner.

I agree with Les--the Tactex pad is the way to go!
Yes, Tactex is still a bit expensive, but it would be
well worth it. It would definitely be a
non-traditional configuration!

There is a circuit (really easy) in Thomas Henry's Electronic Drum
Cookbook called the "Repeating Trigger Generator" that does something
like this...
