OK, this is an UNTESTED "module planner" for Mac OSX only.

Somebody load it up (it's big, like 20MB) and tell me if it's worth
perusing and doing a PC version. Maybe post a few screen shots?

Also if there are any PHP/MySQL programmers here, contact me off list.

I hope I don't offend anybody, but this is not my idea of good software.

It's a FileMaker "runtime" application that leaves a lot to be desired
both
in user interface and in functionality. For instance, it does not allow
you
to move modules around to experiment with physical layouts or to
specify a
specific configuration of cabinets to lay out in, and it's not easy to
add
multiple copies of a module, to delete multiple modules, or to get
summaries
such as # of modules of each type or total power consumption. Its menus
are
full of irrelevant FileMaker commands and its own graphical layout is
both
too small for me and not resizable at all.

But hey, it sort of works, it's free, and I'm not volunteering to write
a
better one, so some people might find it useful.

This really needs to be a webpage. There's about 19 too many megs in that
download ;)

I'm guessing Paul's software budget is pretty non-existant. I'm going to
try and talk my girlfriend into doing a little flash UI, she's not a synth
geek, so we'll see how far I get ;)

On a related note, the MOTM modules really need to be professionally
photographed...

why not, nice work i never seen a better module configurator, i am
sure you will discuss it and afterthat it will be "modded" a lot. ; )
it reminds me a little bit on dieter doepfers "cut it and glue it" real
analog configurator, and hey ! its free. once again ... why not.

if you think about a proffessional use it must have much more features.
and thats $$$.

• better module textures
• movable modules
• order button
• must be smaler in file size
• must be a real application and more ergonomic
• some modules are missing
• and so on ...

I have to agree with Scott's review and add these other comments.

I initially saw a list of modules on the lower part of the screen and
tried to drag and drop them onto the cabinet rows. Nope. I then tried
to resize the list of modules to see more on the screen at once.
Nope. I then tried to resize the cabinet rows. Nope. I then tried to
add or delete module rows. Nope. Eventually I clicked on the little
negative signs above each cabinet row and saw the popup for
installing modules. Why would you click on a negative sign to add
something? I then installed numerous 2U modules into 1U wide spaces.
How would I physically achieve that?

Sorry to whoever wrote this, but speaking as the QA guy, this is
going into the trash.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
