The Mellotron Group

I think Markus is making a big mistake. Although I like and respect Markus, 
 I cannot understand why he would do this other than that the M4000 has 
made  buying a Mark VI an investment that no longer makes as much sense. The  
price/performance trade off for a M4000 is well worth it. Both are 
exceptionally  built machines, but c'mon, 24 voices and a whole lot of cool.
 
The machine Markus is marketing should not be called a M4000 and it  
shouldn't be called a Mellotron. It is neither. It is a digital sample playback  
machine that happens to only play back Mellotron samples. The Mellotron (real 
 one) itself is defined by what it is, how it works and  especially by it's 
limitations. 
 
The whole thing screams of desperation.
 
Markus, if you read this, I would strongly suggest you reconsider the name. 
 After all, Streetly didn't call their machine the Marc 6. Hell, they 
didn't even  call it a Novatron. They called it a M4000. Everyone who sees it 
knows it is a  Mellotron. They could have called it the Street XL-24 and it 
would still be a  Mellotron. You call your new machine a "Mellotron," but it  
isn't one, and the name you chose is petty.

Markus the Swede seems to be hell bent on perpetuating friction  betwixt 
Streetly and his goodself and we don't understand why.   He has continued with 
the name M4000D for his new digital 'tron according to  the mellotron.com 
website.  This will only serve to confuse the  market place and lead people 
to us that would have gone solely to him.   It can work the other way also 
but to what end?  We really cannot  understand the marketing strategy and 
invite comments without fear of  reprisal.
