Re: [oberheim] OB series Factory patch names

2012-02-29 by awacht@gmail.com

This page has some info about patch name, and demos of the sounds too - kinda cool: http://www.synthmania.com/ob-8.htm
I had also come across copies of the pages from the original manual, in .jpg form. I've attached the "Factory Patches" page

Although none of the OB series (OBX, OBXa, OB8 I mean,) have the ability to display or store names with the patches, there were names assigned by the originators. I think I've seen an OBXa 120 program list as a download somewhere, and I have that on paper so I suspect there is an OB8 version on paper somewhere.
Does anybody have this?
Once I had the MIDI'd OB8 and a patch Librarian, I made up my own names, like anybody would, and had a complex regime to keep them all straight in my head and hopefully in the instruments.
The paper version or a scan of it would help me to nail down where some of these patches originated, my variations were always close to the factory.
There aren't that many different patches really, I always though the Matrix 100 was a bit hopeful, nice though it is. Those patches have names and the Matrix 1000 doesn't use them, though my Matrix 6 diplays, and saves them vis MIDI so I can print my own lists.
I also suspect that some of these noises originated with the earlier instrument models and were carried through to the later, so I suspect there's a version of the Xpander patch {Liquidz} for and OB8, or one of the others possibly.
I don't have a working scanner at present, but I'm sure I can get the OBXa one scanned if nobody else has it already.

The OBXa claims something odd for the Split/Double section of the patches. The OB8 had 8 splits and 8 doubles, I remember using both, 4 voice though they were, they sounded great, but what about the OBXa? Any comments from current working OBXa owners? Was it different for earlier software revision or?
