R: [oberheim] Returning and a Softsynth Question

2014-11-05 by F.Manduca

Hi !
I maybe could help regarding the first part of Your mail.
An inexpensive way to manage Your Oberheim sounds on Pc could be done using a Soundfont sample manager synth. Can't remember now wich is the best, but i've read somewhere there are some freeware Vsts, too! Give a look on KVR site, or Google around for a free Sounfont synth. Some people sell online Sounfont packs for almost any synth, but You could build Your ones with sounds You like the best using programs like Samplerobot, if my memory doesn't fail. Using Soundfonts packs, or Wav or so many other ones, is the most comfortable way to have Your synths in a Pc, but..... How beautiful is putting my hands on the real thing !! :-) .
Hope other users could help more with more details about Your questions.
Cheers,
Francesco.

       Hello list members,

After a break to deal with other things I'm back on the
mailing list here. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a
good softsynth, preferably either freeware or very
inexpensive, that will read Matrix6/6r/1000 sounds and play
them back with a decent level of fidelity. My studio is
currently in mothballs until I can get a space constructed
for it, and so I'm using a lot of softsynths to do
things until it's up and running again. I miss my Matrix
6r and 1000 sounds, so I'm wondering if there's any
 recourse out there.

I'm also wondering how Gibson has been treating the
Oberheim brand or if they still own it. Since they are
trying to buy Cakewalk (or may have already closed the deal,
I don't keep up with such things very often) I think
it'd tell a lot about how they're going to handle
another high tech company that doesn't focus on guitars
 and amplifiers.

Thanks for any guidance and info y'all can provide.
