[oberheim] ::: DX Stretch voice stealing

2012-01-24 by Nick Zampiello

Hello!

i was wondering what the voice stealing set up is on the DX stretch.

i notice that if i have Percussion 1 programmed ( i.e. shaker ) and i try to add a conga track ( on the stretch expansion ) the sequencer records over the shaker to do so.

is it just certain voices or is it an issue with mine?

it's supposed to do 6 voices but i literally had 4 programmed. ( 2 shaker pads and 2 conga pads )

thanks!

I have seen this problem, too -- it seems to be a bug in the DX firmware
that only shows up with the Stretch. I think you can avoid it if you can
manage to not have Stretch voices play at the exact same time as their
corresponding DX voice. This is not easy to do with real-time recording,
though, unless you record the main 6 voices normally and overdub the
stretch voices with a small amount of swing, perhaps.

i notice that if i have Percussion 1 programmed ( i.e. shaker ) and i try to add a conga track ( on the stretch expansion ) the sequencer records over the shaker to do so.</div>

is it just certain voices or is it an issue with mine?

it's supposed to do 6 voices but i literally had 4 programmed. ( 2 shaker pads and 2 conga pads )</div>

Re: [oberheim] ::: DX Stretch voice stealing

2012-01-25 by Paul J. White

As far as I know, all DX firmware versions have the same problem when coupled with the Stretch. My MIDI DX upgrade firmware has the problem as well, since it's based on the Oberheim code. I would like to eventually find a fix for the problem, but I haven't had time to work on it. It's on my (very long) to-do list.

<div>Hello!
;
i was wondering what the voice stealing set up is on the DX stretch.
i notice that if i have Percussion 1 programmed ( i.e. shaker ) and i try to add a conga track ( on the stretch expansion ) the sequencer records over the shaker to do so.
is it just certain voices or is it an issue with mine?

it's supposed to do 6 voices but i literally had 4 programmed. ( 2 shaker pads and 2 conga pads )

thanks!
