MIDI patch data on the OB-8

MIDI patch data on the OB-8

2006-09-30 by Mike Thompson

Is it possib;e to load sounds into the OB-8 via MIDI sysex? I am not
sure how my sounds were originally loaded but they have a lot of "tape-
hiss" to the actual voices, and I wondered if this was attributed to
loading the sounds via the cassette interface. Let me know if it can
be done and how it's accomplished. thanks

I don't know if you can load patches via midi BUT....
this won't solve your "tape hiss" problem in any case. The OB-8 is
not a sampler, loading patches is more like turning the knobs and then
hitting the save button. If you have a "hiss" you might have a problem
with the "noise" being on or there may be some problem with the final
amp output, or likely it is just the nature of the old analog beast.
Use a noise gate if it is hissing when you are not hitting any keys.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
