My oberheim Matrix 6 keyboard takes a dump when i try to edit using midi

2006-12-15 by simp673

I try to use any software editors to make editing easier bu the matrix
always freezes. I am assumming the OS can't handle these commands.
Does anyone have the working OS on eproms for sale or can someone
guide me on maybe what i am doing wrong. Anyone else here have the
same problem?

Do you mean freeze completely?
Well MX 6 and MX 1000 have very slow processor, so when you edit be
sure that you make one 'move' at the time and let him some time to
process. I do that when I edit my MX 1000 and it work fine. (no real
time control,eh). Hope it would do some help.

Yeah the mx1000 work fine with editors because they have a different
os version on eprom. On my mx6 it freezes just giving 1 midi cc
message. for example if i am changing filter in editor i look over at
the matrix and it is frozen. somewhere at another oberheim someone
mention that i needed a certain os version for editing from software.
