ear2ear analog patches for the matrix 1000

2008-07-21 by mrboningen

hi all, first post!

i recently got a matrix 1000 after wanting one for a long time. i love
it! i'm probably not going to get around to programming it via a
computer, so i read with interest in the files section the .doc on the
ear2ear patches which fill up the 200 user ram locations with new
sounds. they sound like they'd be a great addition from the text
descriptions. does anyone know if this is still available and where to
get it? is it free ware?

best wishes,

gregg

Hi Gregg,

Good question! I contacted Ear2Ear and I'm waiting to see what their
reply is. Their site for these patches is: www.ear2ear.de/analog.htm
These 200 patches were 35 Euros on floppy plus shipping. We'll see if
they still are actively selling them or may be willing to share them
with the group.

Re: ear2ear analog patches for the matrix 1000

Hi Gregg,

I got a reply back from Rene Zerm about these patches. They are still
actively selling these. Here is the reply:

"of course the 'Analog Dreams' patches are
still available, your order is welcome. :)
We are pleased with knowing you had a discussion
about these sounds, that make the Matrix-1000
sound like a modern Dance synth.
Best,
Rene Zerm ear2ear Team"

So for 35 euros plus shipping 200 Matrix-1000 patches can be had.

I'm planning on writing a bank or too once I learn a bit more about
this synth module. The difference is I will share all my work with
the group. I recently picked up a Matrix-1000 that had a bad voice
chip. I bought 2 CEM3396 narrow body voice chips from Kristopher Maad
of Cheetah MS6 fame for $15.00 US each shipping included. The
original CEM voice chip had issues with one oscillator not sounding
or its envelopes were flaky with bleeps and clicks. The diag program
made it easy to isolate the 4th voice (U401) as being the culprit.
Simple to swap out with the socket and all...

Let us know what they sound like if you purchase these patches.

Hey Fran and Gregg
I have been following this post closely!! I've also got a Matrix 1000
and am very interested in these patchs it's a shame they are 35
euros'...Anyway I was interested to here what software you guys are
using as I've always had problems setting up a basic patch such as a
sine or saw...I've often tended to tweak existing patchs until I have
a desired effect...Also now this may sound a bit stupid but I've been
lucky enough to aquire an Xpander recently and I have so many patchs
on the Matrix I was wondering if there was any possible way of
converting them for use on the Xpander? Two different machines I
realise, but they are of the same family and have a similiar basic
architecture!??!? Sorry in advance if thats not a very clever
question!

Kind regards

Sean

Hi Sean,

I know what you mean 35 euros for me here in the U.S. is a reach. We
need to give Texas back their village idiot...

I'm using Midiquest 9.1 to edit this Matrix-1000 and it works great.
There is a profile for the Xpander too. Same with Unisyn for Windoze
but you need an older Win98 PC.

The Xpander looks to be very similar but I've never seen any software
to convert directly from one to the other. This would mean you'll be
spending long hours transferring the data from the Matrix to the
Xpander. Maybe some else in the group has more on this...

One more note on the Ear2Ear patch banks. There is a bank of 5 demo
patches available on their site so you can check out their work.

Just for the record, we don't want the village idiot back. We were happy to
let him go away to somewhere else.
