OB-MX help please

2010-06-04 by futureretro2001

Hi all,
New to the list. Just recently picked up an OB-MX V1.04 with 2 voices, and UPS managed to beat the hell out of it. Bent one of the rack ears, smashed in the side, the display is missing an entire vertical line of pixels, and the tuning control broke for the oscillators.

Amazingly enough the synth still works, but I'm trying to determine if the controls on the OB-MX are potentiometers or encoders, so I can repair it.
Does anyone know, the make and model (or value if a pot) of these parts?

So not knowing if this OB-MX would stand the test of time being so beat up, I managed to find another unit, and bought it from a seller who said it was a 2 voice model V2.00. When it arrived, to my suprise all voice cards are installed woohoo!, but when I go into the voice pages, it only shows 2 voices available, what?

Anyone here experienced problems with voice cards not being recognized by the OS?

I notice with the top panel off the unit, when the unit is turned on all 6 voice cards do have their LED on, so I would assume that at least means they're getting power. I plan to try the cards in the V1.04 OS unit and see if they are recognized in it.
Unfortunately my V2.00 unit also has some bad pots or encoders, the resonance control is obviously broken, and then the cutoff control when moved affects both the cutoff frequency and the resonance amount at the same time.

So if anyone has input on the voice card recognition, and the pots or encoders please let me know. BTW, the manual doesn't say anything about installing the cards.

I would say contrary to all the bad reviews the OB-MX gets, this thing rocks... you just have to dial it in right.
