On my poly six one of the six voices is louder than the rest and slightly distorted. I swapped the filter and sound generating chips between voices and there is no difference. Any ideas?

I'd think the chips would either work or not... Aren't there volume pots for each channel? -- _______________________________________________ Get your free email from http://www.graffiti.net Powered by Outblaze

Good point: the same channel stays louder regardless of what chipset is in it. The volume pot idea is interesting, which pot controls the voice channel volumes? I know which pots work for tuning, but not the volume. Does the service manual address this? Where would I get a copy of the service manual? Also, when I play a note it will start to oscillate if held too long, what would casue this? The oscillation wheel works fine, this is something else. --- In PolySix@yahoogroups.com, "Chromatest Pantsmaker" <chromatest@g...> wrote: > > no difference as in that chipset is still louder, or that "channel" is still louder. My first guess is that it is part of the "patch" that causes it to make that sound. Putting it into test mode circumvents the patches... -- _______________________________________________ Get your free email from http://www.graffiti.net Powered by Outblaze

There arent any individual volume pots. It might be well that one of the transistors which form the VCA is gone. Check Q5 and Q6 (standard although matched small signal npn transistors "2SC945"). You can skip the filter chip: remove it and then make a wire from pin1 to pin3 of the empty socket. Still distorted? Is SAW and PULSE louder than other voices? This should be easy to find with an oscilloscope and the schematics, but rather difficult without ... Good luck! PolySix@yahoogroups.com wrote:

Thanks, I will look into it. >>> jo.synth@crossnet.at 05/23/03 12:40PM >>> There arent any individual volume pots. It might be well that one of the transistors which form the VCA is gone.
