Prophet 3000 : Midi sample dump & SCSI / OS3.0 how to ?

Prophet 3000 : Midi sample dump & SCSI / OS3.0 how to ?

2009-09-25 by andreaskeffel

Hello,

( sorry my English isn´t the best )

has anybody info about:

1. How to adjust the prophet 3000 to make him ready to receive "MIDI sample dump" ( SDS ) ?
( in the manual this is undefined )

2. For SCSI the OS 3.0 is recommended.
How to get the file on a disk ( from PC ) - because the disk has to be formatted for the prophet ?
( I have OS 1.6A )

3. In the manual is the resonance listed as a possible destination for the modulation matrix. In my prophet 3000 the resonance is not available as a destination. Is this a bug or usual ?

kind regards
Andreas

>>>> It wasn't in the original OS, I don't think. Anyways, it's not straightforward at all. First, you have to record a blank sample long enough for what you want to dump. Then (and I think this is true anytime the sample is up in the editor, but it's definitely true right after you sample it), you can do an SDS dump to the P3K, and it will overwrite that sample. Then, just trim/loop the sample as desired.

>>>>> you can get it here (though the website hasn't been updated in years)... http://www.geocities.com/Backstage/SunsetStrip/6241/sys300b.zip .
You will need to use copyqm to write this (from a PC) to a floppy.

3. In the manual is the resonance listed as a possible destination for the modulation matrix. In my prophet 3000 the resonance is not available as a destination. Is this a bug or usual ?

>>> No idea, sadly, it's been years since I've had a P3000.

Hello Corley,

many thanks to You for the tip about SDS - it´s working !

Other Question :
I had known the way via CopyQM, but i don´t know how to go this way to get the fitting result.
I found 2 versions of OS3.0B.
The first is a image-file ( CopyQM ) 200 KB size.
The second is the file SYS300B.P3K 1610 KB size.

With the first file and copyQM i tried over ten times to get a fitting disk.

My prophet detects the system OS3.0B on the disk, loads shortly and displays then "There is a problem reading the system from this disk."
Over this is blinking „system load error".

Could you, or somebody other please help ?

kind regards

you need to use the /blind /bios option, and you may need to do it under a straight dos prompt (win98 command only will work). You may need to put all this on a usb stick or CD or something to make it work on a modern machine.
The P3K disks were pickier than the dss-1 disk.

the disk should be 1.6 megs though, the 200k one is probably missing something.

OS3.0 works, but other points ?

2009-10-01 by andreaskeffel

Hello Corley,

Great Thanks for your tips - the OS disk is now working.

Now a other question got actual :

The 2 assignable MIDI controllers seems to work not multitimbral. Their changes affect all presets whether to which MIDI channel the preset is assigned to ( MIDI mode 4 ). Is this standard ?

kind regards

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
