VS Rack upgrades and repairs

Last month I had my VS Rack display upgraded to a beautiful blue text on black display. The tech also replaced all my program selection buttons and installed a user friendly holder for the CR123a battery which is compatible to replace the original BR 2/3,
My VS Rack was fine for a while then after about a week, the text on both internal patches and cartridge patches would show up in the display as scrambled. I detached and reattached the gray 40 pin cable that connects the motherboard to the front control circuit board. That cleared up the scrambled letters problem but I lost the cartridge function. The VS still sends power to the VS cartridge socket but otherwise doesn't recognize that the cartridge is inserted and the cartridge select LED doesn't light up.
In order to do the repairs last month, the 40 pin cable had to be detached. Apparently when it was reattached, it was attached without pushing it in place completely. Be careful if you deal with this cable. It doesn't fit ito a socket so it is very, very easy to misalign it. I detached the cable tto check all the pins to make sure I did not bend any. No bent pins were found but when I reattached the 40 pin cable I was off by one two pin row and killed the sound on my VS! (insert crying face here)
Now it is on its way to Wine Country Productions (Sequential repair). I will let you know how the repair works out.
