Linn Drum Transformer

Linn Drum Transformer

2013-06-07 by V.

Hello everyone...

Does anyone know where to buy a replacement power transformer for a Linn Drum LM-2? the orginal is a Signal Transformer 241-8-1737 115V/230V 50/60Hz

I know this is a keyboard centric group, but I thought I would ask.. I'm getting desperate!

Much Thx

V.

Call Bruce Forat @ 818-763-3007. He is the keeper of all things Linn and could at least point you in the right direction.
   Thanks,

You could also try Mouser Electronics www.mouser.com, although their on line catalog can be daunting unless you know exactly what you are looking for. If that transformer is still manufactured, or one with the same spec, they would have it.

Casio CZ-1 Omron Relay Replacement

2013-06-08 by Paul Krull

Hi Folks:
I just got a Casio CZ-1 and it seems to need the relay replaced as the out put is pretty quiet and there's a big hissy noise floor. The original was an Omron G2VN237PL5VDC which I guess is not available. Digikey sells this:

bypass it when switching on hnave your mixer level at zero
the relays pop on frequently
its happened to me on a sy22/35 and some other synths you take out the relay and add wire links

Hi V,

I don't think all sythesizers have keyboards :o)
I did a quick search and found the following :-
"The 241-8-1737 is a custom unit, a modified version of our DMT-8-15
It Incorporates a dual 115V/230V 50/60Hz primary terminals across, 1-2 &
4-5.
There two output windings across pins 6-7 and 8-9-10.
6-7 8V/5.5A
8-9-10 = 36Vct/1A"
Digikey have the DMT-8-15, but this has a 5V windin instead of an 8V one.
If Linn are trying to get 5Vdc then it might work, but it looks a little
short on current rating.
There is a datasheet on the Digikey site.
Best of luck

Paul

Hi,

Omron G5V-2-DC5 is a suitable replacement for the relay and matches the pin configuration perfectly. They have it at Mouser and Digikey. Mouser is cheaper.

best,

DT

I bought a cz-series something with a "noise problem". It turned out to have button marked "noise" - I pressed it and it stopped. I did NOT make this up. :)

Great. Thanks for the response. I've been reloading patches from my MAC classic and cleaning up both units and refurbing a couple easy CZ cartridges and my poor old CZ101 to do patch dumps. The CZ101 isn't doing well after all those D batteries inside exploded years ago.
  Thanks

RE: [vintagesynthrepair] Re: Linn Drum Transformer

2013-06-13 by John Rose

Just one thought if you really get stuck, if there is the space you might
get away with 2 separate transformers possibly toroid's as these tend to be
more compact and the VA rating of both outputs is similar so the same range
with different secondary's may suit.

Many thanks

John Rose
