Current DIY work nears completion:

2007-03-06 by Norman Fay

The upper case I've been building just needs to be stained and
varnished to match the lower one. Upper case is "sources and
treatments", lower is "modulators" and "output". I couldn't get a
second set of Wiard rack ears, so I built rails, using wood strips and
L-section flat stock from the DIY store. It was surprisingly easy,
and had the side benefit of there now being space for an extra
frac-rack module. The space to the upper right, which is the distance
of 2 Wiard rack ears apart isn't quite wide enough for a full
300-series panel, but I can get a schaeffer panel made up to fit quite
easily. I have an Oakley octal resonator and Oakley Equinoxe phaser
built up, which will fit in there quite nicely and which will
complement the Wiard modules quite nicely. As Grant releases new 1200
series modules, I'll move the Blacet gear across to its own rack,
which'll stand beside the Wiard one. After this rather boring spiel,
you'll probably want to see some pics? They're here:

Norman,

Very nice! Is that 3/4" wood you're working with? I have some spare 3/4"
oak and birch from a desk project, but was hesitant to build a modular
case out of it because of weight concerns. Then again, heavier = harder
to steal, and at this point I'll be building a cabinet that can hold 12
300 series (on order) and 6-8 rows of Frac (in house and taking over).

Anyhow, nice work!

regards,
Paul

Doh. I'll just be over here in the corner wearing my "look who replied to
all" dork hat. Pay me no mind.
