Thanks for everyone's replies. Is the stock rom on the xl-7 removeable. Could I trade it for the protean ROM, or is it less desireable. >>>Well, you CAN remove it entirely and replace it with the Protean ROM, but why would you? IF you can have them both (really, up to 4 ROMS), then I think you're better off keeping it and using both. Just cause the XL-7 ROM might not be most ideally suited towards what you are trying to do, doesn't mean you won't find a lot of uses for it still. If you don't have a lot of money right now, you could probably skip the Protean Drum ROM and just get the Protean Pop ROM for now. It has acoustic kits too, and while not as good as those on the Drum rom, they are still quite usable. <<< I'm just starting out with everything. This was my first purchase ever. >>>Welcome to the group first of all! I think you made a fine choice, just cause something is made for one style of music, doesn't mean that you can't use it to greater effect for something else! TB-303's were made to imitate bass guitar players, but it was the acid house Chicago musicians who put it to an even better use! :) <<< I knew it was geared towards dance stuff, but I thought I found a good deal on a really nice one, so I figured I could just add sounds like you all say. >>>Yeah, and don't get all discouraged because you don't have the other roms yet. There's still plenty of great sounds in the XL-7 ROM, and if this IS your first piece of gear, you still have plenty to keep you busy learning for a long time. <<< How can you apply effects from a petal to sounds that are on the xl-7? >>>The sub outs on the back can function as send and return effects sends. Check the FAQ and the manual for moer details. Don't hesitate to ask any question here either, no matter how basic. That's what we're hear for, and we have a lot of talented musicians and computer types on the list willing to help! <<< rEalm The information transmitted is intended only for the person(s)or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or legally privileged material.
