Good work !  Sorry it didn't work but we have to rule out simple things first.

So let's dig deeper.   How often does it occur and does it happen only during certain actions/activities?  Will the original owner confess to this being a problem when he had it?  Or did it start happening after it was shipped to you ?  How stable your power (dropouts or noise/glitches)?  We are basically taking about an address error in the imbedded computer system.

  were fine. I cleaned the contacts on the ROM with isopropyl alcohol

  I lodged a case with EMU but I don't hold too much hope there.
