Forgot to mention - I'm running V2.00 sw with the base (MP7)
chipset. and it happens when I'm not connected to any other MIDI
device...

Have you opened the unit to make sure all cables and ROM(s) are seated properly ? The ROMs use a similar type socket to PC memory and sometimes either need contacts cleaned or reseating.....

If this unit was recently shipped it could be a possibility.......

Well, I pulled it apart and checked all the ribbon cables and they
were fine. I cleaned the contacts on the ROM with isopropyl alcohol
and reseated it.

But still no joy! :(

I lodged a case with EMU but I don't hold too much hope there.
Anybody got any more ideas?

cheers

Good work ! Sorry it didn't work but we have to rule out simple things first.

So let's dig deeper. How often does it occur and does it happen only during certain actions/activities? Will the original owner confess to this being a problem when he had it? Or did it start happening after it was shipped to you ? How stable your power (dropouts or noise/glitches)? We are basically taking about an address error in the imbedded computer system.

Thanks Bob,

I haven't heard back from the original owner yet - Xmas and all...

The unit appears to be in excellant physical condition. The fault
appears to happen after the unit has been in operation for a while
(heat? - I have noticed the machine runs warmish...). It can happen
when sitting idle (not playing) or any other given moment....

cheers
Greg

Might want to open it up and make sure all the connectors are seated
properly. Sometimes they get lose in shipping and that can cause
problems.
