Hmm, that sounds like it might be a bug.  Is the track that you're
currently on (and therefore getting rechannelized/reported to) an
"internal" track?  If it's not, that might be your problem (as that
would theoretically cause the sysex to get reported out the back
instead of to the internal synth.)
