The USB connector is a slave connector.  That means that it only 
connects to a master (like a PC).  You cannot plug in a drive or 
anything to the XL-7, just as you could not plug a USB mouse into a USB 
hard drive.

That was the original idea, but the hardware precludes it.  You could do 
what I've done:  Remove the little plastic button.  You can still power 
on and off the unit by sticking your finger in the hole or by using the 
switch on the back.  Try it, you might like it!

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
