I've been looking at the Alesis MKII active monitors, since my budget limit is $400. Anyone care to sway me or talk me out of them? Thanks for any input :) /.e

I was about to pick them up, been researching, talking to people for over a year, the only bad thing I heard one friend had to return them because they blew more than once...but then M-Audio came out with the BX5 the day I went to the store...I listened to them and in my opinion they crushed the Alesis's and they where only $300 powered pair. I highly recommend these instead of the MKII's, the BX8's are very nice also but I don't need something that loud (was always taught to mix at low volumes & my neighbors would flip!). Skip the MK's and go with the BX5's --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "Jacob Talkington" <anomaly10@h...> wrote:

Wow.. after a little research they've taken the lead in the "what ones to buy" race here. Thanks for the pointer! *research ensues* :) /.e --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "k_eve_l" <k_eve_l@y...> wrote: > I was about to pick them up, been researching, talking to people for over a year, the > only bad thing I heard one friend had to return them because they blew more than > once...but then M-Audio came out with the BX5 the day I went to the store...I listened > to them and in my opinion they crushed the Alesis's and they where only $300 > powered pair. Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, I've pretty much set myself to the M-Audio BX5's (thanks, k_eve_l, for pointing me to them!!). It's nothing against the Mark II's at all. In fact, for playback, the MKII's are pretty much unbeatable for the price. Problem is, I've found them to not be as "honest" as I need them to be for sound editing. They make even my crappily EQ'd stuff sound decent, which just won't hack it in the end. The BX5's however tell it like it is, and they're flexible enough to make fantastic playback speakers. Thanks for the input, both of you! Definately helped a ton. And, when I do some gigging, I'll certainly be thinking about picking up a set of MKII's ;) /.epilogue --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, erik_magrini@B... wrote: > Buy them asap, love these monitors!
