Specs?

Specs?

2003-08-26 by master_yorick

Hi,

I am thinking about getting an XL7. It must be a great machine
considering how many people are on this list!

I wonder if any of you can give me some extra specs. Like,
especially how does it handle on sharp curves. I don't want to tip
over! Does it really gets as good mileage as reported?

thx!

Oh man, there's way too many things to joke about here that I can't
pick just one...

Umm, sorry! Okay so perhaps it is too much to say the XL7 can tip
over. But I also want to know what you all think of its performance!
Especially in regard to handling in rough territory. I mean will I
be able to hold my own with the big boys or will I just end up
spinning my wheels?

Also, I saw a lot terms I didn't understand. Is plug-ins the same as
spark plugs? Is this a new XL7 languange like what GM had going with
the Saturns? If so, I can dig, but I need a faq or something . . .

Thx!

It'll pull about 0.8 G's in the lateral tests, slight more than say a
Mc505 on a similar course. As long you use premium fuel, your mileage
should be fine, add a booster supplement to get slightly more torque, at
the expensive of running the exhaust hotter (watch your cat conv!). Stops
on a dime too, an you can constantly restart it with the SHIFT+Play
combination.

Yeah, you can use the patchcords to help the ignition system, but the
better spark will pull more amps unless you get a decent cap. Mine does
fine in the rough stuff, but it's no spec'd out EVO if you know what I
mean. Any extra bounce or sway could probably be sorted with some KYB's,
mine are going on this weekend, as soon as I figure out how to use
compresion to get the Eibach's off. Not that I enjoy getting them off,
but you gotta do it eventually, ya know?

Wow! That sounds really great! Mc505, is that the new McLaren? If
so, I almost can't believe it! I am definately getting one. So I
take it the EMU designation is the name of the rodder that adds all
these extra cool features. What does it stand for. Is there a
brochure of the addons?

This list is GREAT!!

Hi,

the XL-7 has a very fine electronic sound, I think it´s not so easy to
describe easier to hear. Of course it
can be aggressive, too, but always sounds a bit emu, you should like the
filters.
He has a very complex synthesis architecture and a (now) very good
sequencer.
The effect routings are unflexible, but the Outs could give you a external
way.
The Roms are very expensive.(350 Euro, you nearly could buy a small sampler
for that)

He do not sound really analog, but what about that (ha,ha, look at the
price, and sounds like a moog)
www.mfberlin.de

I would buy it again.

Okay, um, so thanks for all the help! You guys are great. but in the
end, the sound system seems way to much for me to handle. I was
checking out the RAV4 President and it looks good too. But I am even
thinking of going to one of those hybrid engine ones like the Toyota
Prius. I think I saw something promising called the ION, but I never
heard of the company before. Is Alesis a subsidiary of Hyundai or
who? Anyway, I hope the sound system isn't so complex as the XL7!!

Thx again!

No, Saturn makes the ION! Not Hyundai!! Alesis is a subsidiary of Saturn.

If you are interested in a hybrid, you should look at the Andromeda from Alesis/Saturn. It's too pricey for me, but it's pretty sweet.

You can get samples of the "Ion" here:

http://www.ritmic.ch

:)

Seriously, they have samples for everyone....

I think I saw something promising called the ION, but I never
heard of the company before. Is Alesis a subsidiary of Hyundai or
who? Anyway, I hope the sound system isn't so complex as the XL7!!

Thx again!

NEWS FLASH:

Just wanted to let you know why I have been so quiet in Group lately. I
was test driving my E-Mu taking it to its limits and uunfortunately beyond
what its designers intended for everyday use. I got under the hood, saw how
it works, added some auxiliary stuff, and took it for a test drive.
Unbelieveable potential!!!!!! It was crusing far beyond the norm.
Unfortunately, I crashed while trying to handle the suped up E-Mu around
some tricky road blocks. Am now starting to recover. Hope to get back on
track one of these days.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
