Yet another rom question

Yet another rom question

2004-05-09 by madness

Sorry to ask another ROM question. After combing
through the posts on this list, I have decided the ROMS I would like
to have in my MP-7 are: Protean Drums, VIntage Collection, and Pop
Collection. Are there three or four total slots? I think I would
like to get rid of my mo' phatt rom. It doesn't suit my style of
music. If anybody is interested in a trade let me know.
The question is, which ROM to get first. Is EMU going to discontinue
these soon? Will some dissapear before others? I have an Alesis QS
that handles the bread and butter sounds ok, and an ion that does
vintage stuff great, so the Protean ROm is probably the most
essential, but if some of those ROMS are dissapearing soon, should I
jump on them first?

Thanks

Hey madness,

There are 4 total slots in an XX-7.

I have a PX-7 (Protean Drums) with WORLD, VINTAGE, and POP roms.
These are my 4 favorite ROMS that E-mu ever made.

All 'Proteus platform' hardware has been discontinued, so once
existing stock is sold out, the stuff is gone, gone, gone. Jump on
them NOW. Seriously.

The price is right and some ROMs are already VERY hard to find (I've
seen the World Expedition ROM sell for $350+ on eBay--crazy!) Most
remaining ROMs go for around $100 these days. Beware: some of them
actually suck. Vintage and Drums are both excellent, though.
